Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy releases on June 9th in North America and June 5th in Europe. NIS America has provided me with a review copy of the game, and I’m currently working on the review. I’ll have the review published in June, but I can’t say exactly when because I have no idea how long the game is, and I usually prefer finishing a game before reviewing it.

I’ve played two hours of the game so far, and it feels almost exactly like DemonGaze, which is to be expected since it was created by the same people who worked on DemonGaze. I do have to mention two negatives that I’ve noticed so far, the game doesn’t have very much voice acting and that’s something you’ll notice as you put time into Tokyo Abyss, I personally prefer when a game has more voice work in it, but it’s a minor complaint and I’m sure a lot of people won’t mind. Another negative that I noticed was the voice work, some characters sound flat out horrible, early on in the game you’ll meet an English teacher, and well, I didn’t want to say this, but it’s the first thing that came to mind, he sounds exactly like Bill Cosby and I couldn’t stand his voice. The game also has a few other characters that sound flat out annoying, but hopefully that improves as the game goes on since I’m only two hours in.

I know that I’ve only stated negative things about the game, but don’t get me wrong, it’s still fun and challenging just like DemonGaze, so fans of that game will enjoy this one, I have no doubt about that. Anyway that’s it for now, I’ll be playing a lot more of Tokyo Abyss during the next few days.
