It’s time to review the latest booster set release for the Yu-Gi-Oh trading card game that being the Shining Victories set, which contains 100 total cards! First I would like to thank Konami for providing me with a few Shining Victories booster packs for review purposes.
Alright let’s see exactly what the Shining Victories booster set has to offer! Every Shining Victories booster pack contains 9 total cards and the entire set consists of 48 Common Cards, 20 Rare Cards, 14 Super Rare Cards, 10 Ultra Rare Cards and 8 Secret Rares. Shining Victories also introduces all new deck themes like Amorphage Dragons, Lunalight and Digital bug, it also heralds the return of the legendary Blue-Eyes White Dragon! Shining Victories also includes several Blue-Eyes monsters and support cards, all of which are crafted specifically to enhance Blue-Eyes specific decks.
Now let’s check out the cards I pulled from a few Shining Victories booster packs- (Ultra Rare) Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity, (2 Super Rare) Priestess With Eyes of Blue, (Rare) Speedroid Pachingo-Kart, (Rare) Amorphage Envy and a Rare Bloom Prima The Melodious Choir. I think my pulls were fairly decent, especially the two Priestess With Eyes of Blue, which is great in a Blue-Eyes focused deck.
Now let’s take a closer look at a few cards included within the Shining Victories booster set. First up we have Drowning Mirror Force! The effect of Drowning Mirror Force is excellent since it allows you to defend against a direct attack from your opponent, basically if your opponent decides to conduct a direct attack against you, Drowning Mirror Force steps in and makes your opponent shuffle all of his/her attack position monsters back into the deck, so it’s worth having in your arsenal of trap cards.
Next we have Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, the effect of this card is insanely useful “Once per turn, during either player’s turn, when another monster’s effect is activated: You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that monster, and if you do that, this card gains ATK equal to the destroyed monster’s original ATK until the end of this turn. If this card battles a Level 5 or higher monster your opponent controls, during damage calculation: This card gains ATK equal to the current ATK of the opponent’s monster it is battling during that damage calculation only” With Crystal Wing Synchro you can constantly stop your opponent from taking advantage of his/her effect monsters, which would give you a huge advantage in a duel. Crystal Wing Synchro is hands down my favorite card in the entire set.
Here’s a few more cards that you should take a look at, (Spell) Cattle Call has insane amounts of potential since it allows you to send 1 monster from your field to the grave whose original type is Beast, Beast-Warrior or Winged Beast, afterwards you can special summon 1 monster from your extra deck that’s the same type as the card you sent to the grave. The only real negative of this card is the fact that you can’t attack using the card you special summoned, and you can’t use it’s effect, but I’m sure people will find Cattle Call useful.
Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries is a level 3 Tuner monster with a great effect, though it’s very situational.”During either player’s turn, if your opponent controls more monsters than you do: You can discard this card; reveal 1 card in your Extra Deck, then look at your opponent’s Extra Deck, also banish all cards in their Extra Deck with the same name as that revealed card. You can only use this effect of Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries once per turn”
The Shining Victories booster set successfully makes the legendary Blue-Eyes White Dragon more useful and powerful in duels, the new support cards are a must own for duelists looking to make the ultimate Blue-Eyes White Dragon themed deck. Shining Victories also succeeds in implementing new and interesting deck themes such as the excellent Lunalight, Amorphage Dragons and Digital Bug cards. In my opinion, Shining Victories is the best set released so far in 2016 from Konami, this set has something for every duelist and collector. My final score for Shining Victories is a 9.8/10
